HP x2 Detachable 10-p010nr General Review

HP x2 Detachable 10-p010nr is a budget-friendly 10 inch display detachable 2-in-1 laptop. This model belongs to HP x2 Detachable 10 series 2-in-1 PC’s. It features basic specs which are commonly found in cheap 2-in-1 PC’s. HP x2 Detachable 10-p010nr doesn’t comes with a stylus pen. If you want this model with a stylus, go for HP x2 Detachable 10-p020nr model.

10-p010nr is priced around $200 without stylus at the time of writing this general review. Design is similar to other HP x2 Detachable laptops. It basically looks like a tablet PC with a keyboard. Well built keyboard with well spaced keys and enough sized trackpad can be found on this laptop’s dock. Hinge design is different for this model. With the magnetic hinge, you can use this tablet cum laptop in many modes like tent mode, display mode, laptop mode and tablet mode.

Ports and speakers are placed on the tablet, so you wont face any connectivity problems while using as a tablet PC. This model weighs around 2.4 pounds and is about 0.6 inches thin. So, its easy to carry anywhere. Overall, design is good for that compactness.

This cheap 2-in-1 laptop features 10.1 inch WXGA (1280 x 800) IPS eDP Bright View WLED-backlit multi touch display. For the price, WXGA display is acceptable at the time of this review. Even other detachable 2-in-1 PC’s in this range feature WXGA or similar display. You will be satisfied with its touch responsiveness and display quality.

One of the pro feature of this model is its rear camera. Most of the detachable 2-in-1 PC’s like ASUS Transformer Book T101HA doesn’t feature a rear camera. But you are getting a 5 MP rear camera and front facing HP TrueVision HD camera. HP TrueVision HD camera gives best video quality even in low lighting conditions. So,you can make HD video calls even in low light. You can take decent picture from this laptop’s HP Wide Vision 5 MP camera. Audio quality will be good because of the two built-in stereo speakers suing DTS Studio Sound.

Like we said earlier, all ports can be found on tablet. For this model, having USB 3.1 port is a plus point. You have USB Type C port, mini HDMI port and Micro SD card reader. For other connections, you can use USB Type C port with adapters. 802.11 ac WiFi is another pro feature to get in this low-cost laptop. This model comes with a 2-cell 32.5 WHr lithium-ion battery which can give up to 10 hours of battery life in normal usage. Battery life totally depends on your usage.

Overall, design, display and connectivity features are good for the price. Now we will see about its performance specs. This portable laptop is powered by 1.44 GHz Intel Atom x5-Z8350 Processor and comes with 2 GB DDR3L RAM, 32 GB eMMC storage and in-built Intel HD Graphics 400 GPU.

These specs are for light and basic usage. Intel Atom x5-Z8350 processor is best suited for light browsing, light office work and light everyday tasks. You can’t run demanding applications or do multi-tasking. Storage is low but at the time of this review, cheap laptops or Chromebooks like Acer Chromebook 14 (CB3-431-C5FM) feature only 32 GB eMMC storage. So, if you want more storage, you have to use Micro SD card to expand memory.

You can’t play medium to high graphics games in this model. You can manage to play few low graphic games in low settings. But in general, this model is not suited for gaming. This GPU is best suited for display only.

Overall, this is a basic and entry level 2-in-1 PC best suited for people who want a tablet with a keyboard dock for light computing. Best for watching movies or videos, browsing internet, document editing, video calls and other light computing tasks.
